History of Mirca
Mirca is established in the 16th century, as the residents of Sutivan and Lower Humac, when the family Berticevic and Brkovic began to build a parish church. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Miraca, and augmented is the 19th century with baroque details that can be seen in other churches on the island. There is also the island's altar canvas of painter Tironi from 1783 year. Mirca name was created from the Latin word murus, which means "the wall". In the Middle Ages, the place was called Mirac ( "small wall"), and later gets plural form Mirca.
What to see in Mirca
- The parish church of Our Lady of the Visitation - was built in 1733 and therein lies' Pieta ', which was painted in 1783.
In the town and surrounding area is located several structures:
- small chapel with sculptures, paintings and the Lady Saints.
- At the cemetery is the church of St. Theresa M., which was built in 1931.
