How to get to Ugljan Island

The Preko ferry, about 6 miles from centre city Zadar, is the key source for travelling from the Zadar Airport or any of the Zadar rail or train stations. Passengers would take the Preko ferry to Preko, Zadar then head to Ugljan on the main roadway by car or taxi - about a 45 minute journey.

History of Ugljan Island

The Liburns were the first industrious inhabitants of Ugljan in the 4th century B.C. who began the construction of villages, settlements, and castles. The economy is stimulated mainly by fishing occupations, but agriculture, farming, sea travelling and the tourism industries are the other major activities that contribute to the economy. The island is popular for the world’s best olive oil.
