The second largest place on the island Krk is the place Punat with approx. 1,700 inhabitants. Punat is at the south side of the island Krk, at one of the most protected and also most beautiful bays of the Adria. The sand beaches which can be found rarely in Croatia surround this mondaenen holidays place. Punat is firm in the hand of well situated yachtman and owners of yacht. The Marina Punat was distinguished with the blue flag. The attraction of the small coastal small town Punat lies in the closely together-pushed small little houses, its dark wine cellars, in which the wine farmers store their wine, as well as wine gardens and Oliven groves.

Punat is settled in very south of island Krk. About 3-4 kilometeres of the capital of Krk branches the way towards a road Baska and 2 kilometers in the direction of Stara Baska is the place Punat.

History of Punat

Punat for the first time mentioned in 1377 in historical documents. The place name comes from the Latin "Pons," which means bridge. In recent times, probably once a bridge existed there.

Sports & leisure opportunities in Punat

10 km south is situated Stara Baska which has excellent hiking opportunities on the Veli Hlam (484 m) and Batomalj to Jurandvor (chapel) or directly to Baska.

  • Cable Krk (water ski lift Krk)

Since 2001, there are in the Bay of Punat a wakeboard-lift. Specialized is more likely to lift wakeboarders, since it only Kickers and Sliders, but no buoys for example Slalomski drivers. Moreover, the speed for wakeboarders is adapted and is usually in the audience not run faster. There is also a board shop and a restaurant with a roof terrace. Punat is a haven for lover of active vacation and provides several sports and recreation options like sailing, diving, skiing, windsurfing, tennis, aqua park, miniature golf, hiking, boccie...

Where to eat in Punat

Vele Vode is a good place to eat in Punat and not too expensive.

In the restaurant K-RIBARU can be very good and cheap fish and other seafood to eat! Right next to the K-RIBARU is also located at the exit to the Stara Baska good pizzeria LA PERLA, but unfortunately only from mid-May is opened.

In the pizzeria RAGUSA in the center of Punat, there is also good pizza and Mexican specialties!

To the south of the town is located newly constructed bathing beach driving the mini-train. Punat has an beautiful beach Puntarska draga-Punat Bay-, suitable for children. It is placed in shade of mediterranean vegetation and gives you numeruos opportunity to enjoy the sun and sea. In Punat can be found many find gravelly beaches and lot of secret caves as well.

Nightlife and entertainment in Punat

Here are traditional organized Croatia Cup regatta and Olive Days and other interesting festivals which fulfill your free time. Particulary in the summer here are organized feasts like Puntarska Night and the Fishermen's Night which provides good fun to the morning hours.

Beside those interesting events there are many open air terraces and bars on the beaches which guarantees you good night life.
