Orlec
From Croatia
From Cres town go south before Vraner lake left to Orlec. In the village still live about 150 inhabitants, it lies about 240 above sea level and Orlec has no port.
The settlement was known from the 16th Century as residents of Dalmatia which fled from the Turks to the island. The name derives from Croatian word "Orao", which means eagle. Sure, there may also be meant griffon vulture.
The residents live here solely by the sheep farming. Many ancient stone walls bear witness to it.
The focus is the parish church of St. Anthony. Anthony, the patron saint of livestock breeders. This came about around 1700 from the Franciscan monastery after Cres Orlec. The interior walls of the church has a Slovenian painter painted in 1958 and shows the population of Orlec, in their national costumes. The church has a bell tower.

History of Orlec
According to a tradition the village is established in the 16th century. At that time, it was residents of the Dalmatian from hinterland which fled from the Turks. They settled in Orlec down.
Their folk dress, dances and songs are still in their homeland.
