Njivice
Njivice is a locality with port at the west coast of the island island Krk and lies in the bay Beli Kamik between Omisalj and Malinska. Njivice does not have an own local administration, but belonged to the city Omisalj. To Njivice belongs also the local part Kijac, a new building settlement, which was only put on in the eighties of the last century. The place ranks among the most popular holidays places on the Krk Island.

How to get to Njivice on Krk

Njivice lies in the north-west of the island of Krk and is about 10 km away of the Krk bridge. From the main road in the direction of Krk, you reach the place by two to the right outgoing roads. If coming from the south, e.g. Krk, with two outgoing roads to the left. A Journey with the railway is to Rijeka and then by bus or car. Also it is possible to travell by plane and get on the airfield Rijeka, which is placed on Krk Island.

History of Njivice on Krk

Unlike other places on the island of Krk, Njivice has historically not so much to offer. Some archaeologists have in the settlement, however, discovered finds which suggest that this place already was populated in the ancient world. It was the first time mentioned in a gift certificate of Prince Ivan Frankopan II, 12.Febr.1474. At that time there was also a land of Kastel Lans of Omisalj. In the year 1710 is the settlement "sasso Villa di bianco" or Beli Kamik first time next to the settlement Njivice been mentioned their names to one of today's hotel has been named. In recent centuries, Njivice a small village, whose inhabitants are mainly lived of fish, olive and livestock. In 1930, have been built the first hotel, the hotel "Luka" and the Villa Dinka. The hotel has gained a fame, because it temporarily, the communist leader Josip Broz (later Josip Broz Tito) refuge from his pursuers, has found the authorities of the royal Yugoslavia.
