Murter
From Croatia
Murter is a small place in the region of Sibenik.
Murter is the oldest town on the island of Murter, situated between an attractive bathing bay Slanica and Hramina; anchorage for yachts. People were always engaged in agriculture, fishing, olive growing and tourism. Murter has beautiful beaches and the special offer so-called "Robinson's tourism", on the Kornati Island.

How to get to Murter
- By car or bus you can arrive from Sibenik over northwest coast road E65 from Tisno where you need to cross the bridge
- You can get there by plane to the airport of Zadar - Zemunik.

History of Murter
According to some old documents, it is known here have lived aprox. 203 residents in 1298. The number was increased after the immigration of refugees who fleed before the Turks. Archaeological finds of Roman settlements Collentum testify about the importance of the position on the island of Murter.
What to see in Murter
- St. Michael - restored in 1770.
- St. Rochus chapel- situated on a hill above the village, dating from 1760. year
- Church of Our Lady of Citadels - in 1866. here was established the first local library in Dalmatia
